Despite the claims of Schalke general manager Horst Heldt, Chelsea are adamant to test the resolve of the Bundesliga club to hang on to star midfielder Julian Draxler, and will table an attractive bid, believed to be in the region of 25 million pounds for the 20 year old German international, in January.
Draxler has been on the radar of a whole host of top European clubs for a couple of years now, and was in stellar form last season, scoring 13 goals in 39 games from midfield. The youngster was linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer transfer window, but reportedly rejected the overtures of top clubs to ensure that his playing time was not affected by a move to unfamiliar surroundings in a crucial World Cup year.
Heldt remains firm in his resolve to hold on to Draxler in what will be another crucial transfer window for the Bundesliga club. Heldt told Kicker-Sportmagazin earlier this week, “Julian Draxler will be at our club this season, that is for sure. There will be no fuss regarding him during the January window as he is committed to our club.
