Online Girlfriend welcome Boyfriend with a base ball bat

Police say an Alabama man who traveled to Oregon to live with a woman he met online not only struck out — he got struck in the skull. Sgt. Chris Baldridge of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office said that Samuel Campbell (26) of Adger, Ala., met Haley Fox (24) of Turner in 2013 and the two began an online relationship. This past week, Campbell traveled to Oregon to meet Fox in person for the first time. He planned to live with her. A probable cause affidavit states that when he arrived on Wednesday, Campbell was led by Fox to a table outside her home on the 7000 block of Lipscomb Road Southeast. Once he sat down, she poured him some wine and then told him to close his eyes. When he did, she proceeded to bash him in the back of the head three times with a metal baseball bat. According to the affidavit, “Fox stated she played softball from grades 4-11 and knew how to hold a bat.” According to Baldridge, Fox told investigators she injured Campbell because she did not want to be his girlfriend. Court documents state another woman appeared after the bat attack, and the victim reported hearing them talk about using duct tape to bind him. The man told detectives he believed he was going to die. He then convinced the women that he would not disclose what happened if they would just take him to the hospital, according to court documents, and they agreed. The woman who plotted with Fox, 26-year-old Jennifer Beaumont, has been interviewed by police, but is not facing charges at this time. Court documents state that the victim suffered a fractured skull and required nine staples to the head. He was released from the hospital after receiving treatment. Fox was booked in the Marion County Jail on the charge of first-degree assault but has since posted bail. She was released from custody thereafter. According to court records, Fox has no prior criminal history. She will be back in court April 20
