Uni student Paul Bracamontes shot dead after smashing into home ranting about zombies

A UNI student has been shot dead by a homeowner after he smashed through a glass door screaming about zombies.
California man Paul Bracamontes, 22, hopped a fence into the back yard of a Yorba Linda home around 3am local time on Sunday.
He began screaming at the homeowners through their sliding glass door, ranting about zombies and threatening to hurt them, KTLA reports. Cops say he also told the homeowners that there were other people ready to attack the front of the house.
Bracamontes - who police say was hallucinating - then smashed through the door into the home, where he was fatally shot by the homeowner, police said. The homeowner did not know Bracamontes and was released after being interviewed by cops.
Earlier that night, the uni student had been at a party, where he was making bizarre comments about zombies and saying he needed to get a gun and get to higher ground, KTLA reports.
"At some point during the conversations at that party they say he began hallucinating and that he needed to get a gun," said Orange County Sheriff Lt Jeff Hallock.
Bracamontes had spent time volunteering with foster children earlier that day, and workers say he appeared normal.
An autopsy is scheduled for today and toxicology tests to determine whether Bracamontes had been drinking or taking drugs the night of his death.
