She killed me, so I killed her': Larry Dunn murdered lover with AIDS

'She killed me, so I killed her'

WHEN Larry Dunn was told by his mistress that she had AIDS he decided to have unprotected sexual intercourse with her again.
Then he went into the kitchen of Cecily Lee Bolden's unit in Oak Cliff, Dallas, took a steak knife out of the drawer and stabbed her to death in her bed in September last year.
"In my mind, I'm already dead," Dunn, 37, said in a video confession that prosecutors Jennifer Sawyer and Dalerie Moore played to jurors in a Dallas County courtroom, the Dallas Observer reported.
"She killed me, so I killed her."
Dunn believed he had been infected with HIV by 28-year-old Bolden and feared that he had infected his wife.

More than a year after the pair had sex Dunn has not been diagnosed with HIV. He is still undergoing tests.
Dunn has been charged with murder and faces up to life in jail for the crime. His attorney, however, is trying to prove he acted with 'sudden passion', which carries a 20-year sentence.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that most people develop a detectable amount of HIV antibodies between two to eight weeks of exposure.
Dunn initially denied killing Bolden, though he admitted that the two had sex that day. He also denied knowing that Bolden was HIV positive when Dallas police Detective Brian Tabor told him.
In a second interview, Dunn admitted what he had done, saying: "I was enraged, man … She knew she had HIV.
"I wanted to make her pay," he told police.
The case continues

Sheriff’s Deputy Saved By Her iPhone Charging Cable

Just the other day we heard how a HTC EVO 3D managed to save the life of a gas station clerk when a bullet was fired at him, with the phone standing in the way of the bullet and the man’s chest, ultimately absorbing the shock and impact of the bullet that might have otherwise killed him. Coincidentally it seems that a LA County Sheriff’s deputy also had her life saved, but not by a phone, but by an Apple iPhone charging cable instead, which is admittedly pretty interesting given that the charging cable isn’t exactly as sturdy or solid when compared to a phone. The deputy was shot at during a shooting and the bullet would have entered her hip had it not been for the fact that the deputy was carrying her Lightning cable in her pocket. While the deputy was injured as a result of the shooting, it was not as severe as it could have been as reports claim that the cable actually helped to deflect the bullet. A post from the LA County Sheriff’s Twitter account has referred to this as a miracle, which we can’t help but agree. Now we have to wonder if accidental shootings would be covered under Apple’s warranty, especially since the cable looks like it is in no state to charge an iOS device anytime soon.

Australia - Cop punched, several police members were assaulted in National Union of Students'Protest

A ROWDY student protest has ended in Melbourne with five arrests, a police officer being punched in the face and Treasurer Joe Hockey needing police protection from an angry, surging crowd.
About 100 university students were taking part in the National Union of Students' demonstration outside parliament house, protesting against federal government cuts to higher education.
But the large group was met by uniformed police and officers on horseback as they made their way down Bourke Street in the CBD.
Mr Hockey was caught up in the rally when protesters tried to confront him near state parliament, but his security team and police held back the crowd.
"They must have thought I was a Labor politician because it was the Labor party that cut university funding," he later told reporters.
Police say five people were arrested as some protesters began throwing shoes and chalk outside the Liberal Party headquarters.
Protesters also burned items in the street.
A police spokeswoman said several officers were attacked by the group and one of them had to be taken to hospital with minor injuries.
"It's alleged several police members were assaulted during the incident, including one member who was allegedly punched to the face by a protester," she said.
But one of the rally organisers, Sarah Garnham, says students were peaceful and it was the police who were violent.
She said two people were initially arrested - and one of them was unconscious at the time.
"The first I saw of her she is being dragged out, not resisting at all," Ms Garnham told AAP.
"No one in the protest was violent. There was absolutely no violence whatsoever apart from the Victorian police who moved in on us."
She said protesters tried to attend a police station to make a brutality complaint, but police wouldn't let them go inside.
More members of the protest group were then arrested, she said.
The protest site has been cleared but is still being watched by officers.
Police later released a man and woman without charge, but four others were bailed on a range of alleged offences.
A 21-year-old Geelong West man was charged with recklessly causing injury, a 30-year-old Preston woman was charged with discharging a missile and assaulting a police officer, a 27-year-old Preston man was charged with hindering or resisting police and discharging a missile and a 22-year-old Thornbury man was charged with resisting police.

Man Kidnaps Own Son, Demands Ransome

The Department of State Security Service (DSS), Lagos State Command Nigeria on Monday paraded a 48-year-old man, Samson Adebayo, who masterminded the kidnap of his son and demanded a ransom of N350,000.(2,205.59 USD)

Adebayo, with the help of his girlfriend, Kehinde Alonge, a hairdresser, had kidnapped nine-year-old Emmanuel from his residence at 2, Solomon Street, Ilu-Nla, Aradagun, Badagry.

Speaking to journalists Monday, DSS Director, Lagos State Command, Mr. Ben Achu-Olayi, said Adebayo had informed the service and the police in order to make his plan convincing about his missing child.

He said: "On October 7, the command received a report from Adebayo Samson who complained that his son was kidnapped on October 3.

"Consequently, the command swung into action with the aim of rescuing the victim and arresting the culprits. Preliminary investigations confirmed the kidnapping incident by Kehinde Alonge who demanded a N350, 000 ransom.

"She demanded that the ransom be paid into a UBA account 2050908899 belonging to one Taiwo Faloye. Meanwhile, we had set up a flag on the account with the cooperation from the bank and were alerted when N230, 000 was remitted."

He said the female suspect was arrested when she went to cash the money from a UBA branch at Ilesa, Osun State, adding that during interrogation, Alonge had fingered the victim's father.

He said: "Following Alonge's indictment, Adebayo confessed and was arrested. He confessed that he planned his son's kidnap in order to extort money from some of his church members and sympathisers."

While stressing the commitment of the command in fighting crime in the state, Achu-Olayi warned parents against kidnapping their children for ransom. He said: "We have noticed that crimes of these nature are usually committed by parents or close relations and we are warning them that we would not tolerate such acts."

According to him, investigations have been concluded and the suspects will soon be charged to court.

Drone Kills Al Shabaab Bombmaker

The man said to be the master bombmaker for the al Shabaab terrorist group has been killed by a drone strike in southern Somalia

A car carrying Ibrahim Ali Abdi, also known as Anta Anta, was hit by three missiles as it travelled along a road near the town of Jilib on Monday.

Somali intelligence sources, quoted by news agencies, said Ali Abdi was the group's explosives expert and specialised in making suicide vests and car bombs.

A witness to the attack, Hassan Nur, told Reuters he saw a drone above the Suzuki vehicle in which at least two men were travelling.

"I saw a big crash and then saw a drone disappearing far into the sky ... many al Shabaab men came to the scene," he said.

"Many cars were driving ahead of me, but the drone targeted this Suzuki."

An unnamed American official told the LA Times the strike was carried out by the US Army, but this has not been officially confirmed.

The US is known to operate drones from bases in Djibouti and southern Ethiopia.

The air strike follows a pattern of pressure bearing down on al Shabaab, which has been driven from Somalia's main towns by a combination of African Union forces and clandestine American operations.

Al Shabaab hit back with the recent attack on a Nairobi shopping mall, but appears unable to regain any ground inside Somalia.

The loss of its chief bombmaker is a blow to the group as it will take time to train other men up to the deadly standard of Ali Abdi.

It comes less than a fortnight since the group claimed responsibility for a suicide bomb attack near a military base in the city of Beledweyne, around 210 miles north of Somalian capital Mogadishu, which killed at least 13 people.

Scientists say women stare at other women's chests as much as men

College students love boobs. Did we need a study to tell us that? Probably not -- but the results of a University of Nebraska-Lincoln study now published in the journal Sex Roles does offer one surprise: women look at boobs just as much as men.

Using eye-tracking technology, psychologists Sarah Gervais and Michael Dodd recently found that among 29 female and 36 male college students, the women were just as guilty of the "objectifying gaze" as their male peers.

The eye-tracker measures, down to the milliseconds, how long the eyes are fixed on certain spots. Gervais and Dodd had subjects look at 10 college-aged females.

They were shown three images of each woman -- one unretouched photo, one manipulated to look more curvaceous, and one less curvaceous. To create the curvaceous look, certain body parts -- the chest, hips and rear ends -- were enhanced. The study participants were asked to rate the women in the photos on personality or appearance.

When asked to focus on appearance, the males and females equally zoned in on the areas of the enhanced parts of the body, especially the waists and chests. They spent more time looking there than they did looking at faces. The images showing larger breasts, narrower waists and bigger hips prompted the longest looks.

"We do have a slightly different pattern for men than women, but when we looked at their overall dwell times -- how long they focused on each body part -- we find the exact same effects for both groups," Gervais said in a statement. "Women, we think, do it often for social comparison purposes." Men, they say, might be doing it because, based on evolution, they are more drawn to curves because they imply better childbearing abilities.

While both had wandering eyes, they rated what they saw differently. Even when they were asked to rate the women in the images on personality, the men rated the curvier women more positively.

Gervais and Dodd hope the study leads to a better understanding of why people objectify women, so that the behavior can be controlled.

"By characterizing the manner in which people fixate on the body when engaging in objectifying behavior, it also becomes possible to determine methods of reducing this behavior. That's what the personality manipulation part of the study did -- that's a huge positive," Dodd said. "It's not as though looking at the body of someone has to be, or is, a default behavior. It just may be the case that cognitive control is required to engage in more appropriate, and less damaging, visual behavior."

Israel frees 26 Palestinian prisoners

Israel frees 26 Palestinian prisoners, the second of four groups to be released as part of a deal that set in motion the current Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.

Jubilant celebrations kicked off in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, where the prisoners are seen as heroes who fought for independence, and they were received warmly by their families and Palestinian leaders.

But the decision to release the 26 has triggered anguish and anger in Israel, where many see them as terrorists.

The release was part of an agreement brokered by US Secretary of State John Kerry that brought Israel and the Palestinians back to the table for peace talks that had been paralyzed since 2008. In all, 104 prisoners are to be released in four batches over the coming months.

In the West Bank and Gaza, the mood was boisterous as hundreds of relatives and well-wishers welcomed the prisoners home, after many had spent more than 20 years behind bars.

Throngs of people rushed toward the prisoners as they were freed, hoisting them on their shoulders, waving Palestinian flags and dancing to music. In Gaza, where five of the prisoners were released, relatives held signs that read "we will never forget our heroes."

The 21 prisoners released to the West Bank were to be greeted at a welcoming ceremony later by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

Around 50 Israelis protested outside the West Bank prison where the inmates were held ahead of the release, and around 1,000 people demonstrated against the release on Monday. They held signs reading "death to murderers" and burned keffiyehs, traditional Palestinian headscarves.

An angry husband claims he converted his entire life savings into gold bars and threw them in the bin.

An angry husband reportedly turned his entire life savings into gold bars and threw them out just so he could avoid paying his wife any money in their divorce settlement.
American Earl Ray Jones claims he converted $500,000 into gold bars and threw them in the bin behind a Colorado Springs hotel.
Jones told his lawyer he raided the couple's entire retirement and savings accounts and purchased 10kg worth of gold, the Colorado Springs Gazette reported.
The 52-year-old first claimed at a June divorce hearing that he literally threw their money away when a magistrate ordered he pay his estranged wife $3000 a month.
In a sworn deposition in July, he said he threw the mix of coins and gold bars into bins behind a hotel after bank tellers wouldn't let him withdraw the money in cash.
However there is no trace of the gold being dumped, though records show he did purchase precious metals with his savings.
And while there is yet no trace of the gold, if it was dumped in the bin he claimed it will go to landfill nearby.
But if is actually found, the gold will automatically become the property of the company that owns the site, Waste Connections.
Jones is currently being held in jail awaiting sentencing for allegedly abusing his wife and holding her captive.

Pennsylvania man charged with harassment for rubbing pregnant woman's stomach: cops

A Pennsylvania man was charged with harassment for allegedly hugging a pregnant woman and rubbing her stomach without her consent in what may be the first case of its kind, according to police and a legal expert.
Richard J. Beishline, 57, went to his pregnant neighbor's trailer at about 5 p.m. on Oct. 20 in Cumberland County, according to Trooper Robert Hicks, a public information officer for the Pennsylvania State Police.
While there, Beishline hugged the woman and touched her stomach against her wishes at which point she pushed him away, Hicks said. Beishline returned to his trailer, and the pregnant woman called police.
Beishline was later charged with harassment in connection with the incident, Hicks said.
In Pennsylvania, a person can be charged with harassment for an action they take that has an intent to harass, annoy or alarm another person.
But rarely if ever has the law been applied to unwanted belly-touching and other physical contact aimed at pregnant women.
"It’s extremely rare and uncommon," said Pittsburgh attorney Phil DiLucente. "I have never heard or saw this ever being found."
"This might be the first of its kind," he added.
Hicks also said he had never heard of the law applied in this way, but added that any unwanted physical contact can be considered harassment under state law.
The charge is what is known as a summary offense in Pennsylvania, not a misdemeanor or a felony, and is typically disposed of with fines, DiLucente said.
After a person is charged, a citation is issued where the individual can plead guilty and pay a fine or plead not guilty and scheduled a hearing in district court.

A magistrate in Cumberland County filed the harassment charge against Beishline, but he has not yet received his formal citation or responded to the charge, according to Hicks.

Real Madrid revealed why they sold Mesut Ozil to Arsenal

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has revealed why the side sold Mesut Ozil to Arsenal and decided to stick with Angel di Maria, instead. According to The Daily Express, the Italian has said that Ozil was inferior to the Argentine in the aspects of ‘dynamism and character’ despite being superior in quality and that Gareth Bale’s arrival to the club also played a crucial role in his exit.

Ancelotti said: “I decided the departure of Ozil. I prefer Di Maria for the balance of the team. It’s true, that maybe Di Maria has less quality than Ozil but on a profile of dynamism, character and help to the team I preferred Di Maria. With the arrival of Bale it was better to have Di Maria than Ozil.”

The manager also criticised Los Blancos players for questioning the club’s decision to sell the German playmaker, pointing out that the players need to be professional and avoid such comments about the players coming and going from the Bernabeu.

Ozil’s departure from Real Madrid has led to a number of their players criticising the sale of the 25 year old. On the other hand, the German himself has been a revelation for the Gunners (as expected!), scoring thrice and providing 4 assists in 8 appearances for the north Londoners.

While Gareth Bale’s arrival was sure to usher the team into a momentary phase of unsettlement, the dip in Real’s form this season has been evident for the fans to see and raise further question marks on the logic of Ozil’s sale

Kenyan soldiers arrested for looting mall

THREE Kenyan soldiers have been arrested for looting during the deadly four-day siege of a Nairobi shopping mall by Islamist militants last month, the army says.
"The investigation found three soldiers with stolen property. Two have been jailed and dismissed. One is under investigation," army chief Julius Karangi told reporters in Nairobi on Tuesday.
One member of a fire brigade was caught with mobile phones and cameras, while another was caught stealing an abandoned car from the mall's parking lot.
The army previously denied troops had looted and said thirsty soldiers had simply taken water from cafes and supermarkets inside the upscale Westgate Mall.
Karangi said an officer gave eight soldiers clearance to take water.
He called the decision a lapse in judgment and said disciplinary measures would be taken.
Closed circuit footage of soldiers rummaging through shops and leaving a supermarket with bulging plastic bags sparked public outrage.
Numerous shop owners reported their goods were missing when they re-entered the mall.
Somalia-based group al-Shabab claimed responsibility for the attack, in which the militants killed at least 67 people and injured some 200 between September 21 and 24.
Kenyan police criminal investigations chief Muhoro Ndegwa said one of gunmen had made a phone call to Norway during the siege.
One of the assailants is believed to have held Norwegian citizenship.

Uni student Paul Bracamontes shot dead after smashing into home ranting about zombies

A UNI student has been shot dead by a homeowner after he smashed through a glass door screaming about zombies.
California man Paul Bracamontes, 22, hopped a fence into the back yard of a Yorba Linda home around 3am local time on Sunday.
He began screaming at the homeowners through their sliding glass door, ranting about zombies and threatening to hurt them, KTLA reports. Cops say he also told the homeowners that there were other people ready to attack the front of the house.
Bracamontes - who police say was hallucinating - then smashed through the door into the home, where he was fatally shot by the homeowner, police said. The homeowner did not know Bracamontes and was released after being interviewed by cops.
Earlier that night, the uni student had been at a party, where he was making bizarre comments about zombies and saying he needed to get a gun and get to higher ground, KTLA reports.
"At some point during the conversations at that party they say he began hallucinating and that he needed to get a gun," said Orange County Sheriff Lt Jeff Hallock.
Bracamontes had spent time volunteering with foster children earlier that day, and workers say he appeared normal.
An autopsy is scheduled for today and toxicology tests to determine whether Bracamontes had been drinking or taking drugs the night of his death.

Mother hide girl of 23 months old in car boot since birth

France was shocked after the discovery of an underfed and dehydrated baby girl who had been forced to live hidden in a car boot, possibly since birth.

The little girl, aged 15 to 23 months, was found by mechanics on Friday when her mother took the car to a garage in Terrasson, in central France.

Police on Monday said one of the mechanics heard "bizarre noises, like moans" coming from the car boot and opened it to discover the girl, who was naked, lying in her own excrement, dehydrated and feverish.

The girl was taken to hospital where doctors said she was suffering from delayed growth and mental problems.

The girl "was hidden, it seems since birth, and more seriously, she is suffering from significant [developmental] delays," local prosecutor Jean-Pierre Laffite told AFP.

The situation "defies belief", he said.

The girl's mother, 45, and her 40-year-old partner were arrested and charged on Sunday with child abuse and endangering a minor. They face up to 10 years in prison.

Birth in secret

The mother told police that she had given birth in secret and hidden the baby's existence from everyone, including her partner, the girl's father.

The couple have three other children, a four-year-old girl and two boys aged nine and 10, who were handed over to social services following their parents' arrest.

The mechanic who found the girl, Guillaume Iguacel, told AFP on Monday that he was still reeling from the discovery.

"I'm still having trouble sleeping, it was a horrifying sight, seeing this little girl in her own excrement, not able to hold up her head, white as a sheet," he said.

Iguacel said the girl's mother appeared to have little concern for her daughter.

"We were deeply shocked because she didn't find this abnormal. We told her to remove the little girl (from the boot) and give her something to drink right away," he said.

The couple, who were both of Portuguese origin and both unemployed, lived in the village of Brignac, about 10km from the garage where the baby was found.

Neighbours told French media the mother had been behaving strangely and was seen spending an unusual amount of time in the car.

"We had the impression this woman lived in her car. She never left it," a neighbour identified as Pascale told Le Parisien newspaper.

"I remember seeing her several times a week with her car parked in a lot about 200m from her home. The boot was always open. I was wondering what she could be doing," she said.

Teenage girl rescued from pond mud

A teenager had to be pulled free from chest-high mud by firefighters after she got stuck while walking across a dried-out pond, a senior officer said.

The 17-year-old had been trapped for more than an hour by the time her two male friends raised the alarm and rescuers made a two-and-a-quarter mile trek over rugged terrain to reach her.

The dramatic rescue near Tudhoe in County Durham, which saw retained firefighters from Spennymoor trek through woods wearing their heavy kit, took place at around 7.30pm on Wednesday.

Firefighters Andrew Spence and Billy McAloon used tree roots to secure themselves while they gently rocked the girl backwards and forwards to free her from the mud.

Crew manager Mr Spence said: "It was a mixture between potter's clay and thick, glue-type mud.

"She was getting a bit flustered and, as she moved about, she was sinking further in."

After she was pulled free, she was walked to the fire engine where a low pressure hose was used to wash her clean so paramedics could check her over.

Mr Spence said: "It will have been terrifying for her. She had two friends with her and they were covered in mud from trying to get her out."

He recommended walkers to use a stick when walking through dried-out areas to check for mud.

Girl 13 year old raped and buried alive

A 13-year-old girl has dug herself out of a muddy grave after being raped by two men who then buried her alive in Pakistan.
The teen was abducted from her local village in the Punjab province while she was walking to Koran lessons.
Her father Siddique Mughal told police his daughter had been taken, but they refused to cooperate, Outlook India reported.
The men took the young girl to an isolated place and raped her and then buried her alive as they believed she died during the brutal attack.
But the girl managed to dig her way out the muddy grave and caught the attention of passers-by who helped her to a local medical centre.
After local police refused to investigate, the Lahore High Court Chief Justice's Complaint Cell formally directed them to arrest the girl's attackers and complete a report on the incident without delay.
A sessions judge for the local Toba Tek Singh region has also been asked to look into the matter.
Child rape remains a problem in Pakistan where local activist group Sahil said cultural myths persist such as HIV positive men believing they can be cured through sex with a virgin.

The World tallest man gets married

MARDIN, TURKEY - OCTOBER 26: The World's tallest man Sultan Kosen (L) poses with his fiancee Merve Dibo during their henna night, the ceremony held one day before the wedding, on October 26, 2013 in the Dede village of Mardin, Turkey. The World's tallest man, whose height is measured at 2 meters 51 centimeters, Sultan Kosen is set to marry Merve Dibo of Syrian descent on October 27, 2013 in the southern Turkish city of Mardin. In addition to his height, Kosen also entered the Guinness Book of World Records due to the size of his hands and feet, which are recorded at 27.5 centimeters and 36.5 centimeters respectively. (Photo by Ibrahim Yakut/Anadolu Agency/Getty Images)

It may sound clichéd but the world’s tallest man is on cloud nine after meeting the woman of dreams.

Sultan Kosen, who stands at 2.52m (8ft 3in) tall, had given up on finding love as women were put off by his stature – until he met Merve Dibo.

The couple wed in Turkey today – and even though farmer Mr Kosen, 30, towers over Ms Dibo, who stands at 1.73m (5ft 8in) tall, the couple couldn’t be happier, he said.

‘Now I will have my own family and private life,’ he told reporters.

Recalling his long search for love and happiness, he added: ‘How unfortunate I could not find a suitable girl of my own size. But in my fiancee I’ve found the person for me.’

Now his dream of finding love has come true, he hopes to find a car big enough for his huge frame so his bride can travel by his side.

After becoming the world’s tallest man in 2009, Mr Kosen achieved near celebrity status, and as a result the couple had plenty of VIPs to invite to their nuptials in his home city of Mardin.

Guests included a host of politicians, including Turkey’s president Abdullah Gul and prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as well as religious leaders and high-profile businessmen.

Not surprisingly, Mr Kosen, who also holds Guinness World Records for the person with the biggest hands – 27.5cm (11ins) long – and  feet – 36.5cm (14ins) in length… he wears size 28 shoes – had to have a wedding suit specially-tailored for the event.

He suffers from a  rare disorder called pituitary gigantism, which causes his body to continually produce the growth hormone. Doctors believe his condition was caused by a tumour on his pituitary gland, which was removed in 2008.

Mr Kosen grew normally until the age of ten when the tumour caused his growth to increase at a rapid rate – which was only halted until last year.

He is one of only ten people to grow above 2.44m – 8ft – and surpassed China’s Bao Xishun as the world’s tallest man four years ago. He stands at a height of 2.36m (7ft 9ins).

During a visit to Britain two years ago, Mr Kosen said: ‘The kids used to tease me and I found that very difficult. But now I am really proud of being  tall.’

Robert Wadlow of Illinois, in the US, who died aged 22 in 1940,  was the world’s tallest ever man, reaching a height of 2.72m ( 8ft 11.1ins).

Joele Killed just 10 days he arrived in England

The 20-year-Joele who had been in England for just 10 days, died from his injuries at King’s College Hospital in London after he was assaulted above the Vesuvius restaurant in Maidstone, Kent, where he was working.

Evangelist Charged With Rape

A self-styled Kenyan preacher who claimed to help couples conceive "miracle babies" through prayer has been charged with three counts of rape in Britain.

Police said Monday that Gilbert Deya, 61, was charged last week with rape, one count of attempted rape on an adult and one count of sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl.

Deya has claimed to help infertile couples conceive "through the power of prayer and the Lord Jesus."

Britain's Home Office could not immediately answer why Deya — who lost a battle against extradition to Kenya to face kidnapping charges — is still in Britain.

London's Metropolitan Police said Deya will appear in court Nov. 8.

Torres - Victory over Man City tasted sweeter

In his praise for Fernando Torres's display against Manchester City, Jose Mourinho said it was made all the better for the fact the striker did not allow an early miss to affect him and continued on to create one goal and then score the last-gasp winner.

Torres too, speaking after Sunday's 2-1 win, discussed his change in fortunes. But it wasn't just his part in the goals that caught the eye. As well as one tremendous effort that hit woodwork, the Spaniard caused Manuel Pellegrini's side problems throughout, adding to his two-goal haul against Schalke the previous game.

'Sometimes the most important thing about a miss is to forget about it and carry on,' Torres said, 'and I was really happy to create this chance for Andre [Schurrle] to score his goal to make it 1-0 straight after this miss.

'The next action I hit the crossbar so I was feeling well and at the end I could score that late goal and forget the chance I missed in the first half, so it was a very positive goal for everyone.'

On the late winner when a mix-up at the back by Man City allowed him to win a race to put the ball into an unguarded net, Torres said:

'I used to have a team-mate who told me every ball can be the most important ball of the game, and this is a clear example, a long ball and a misunderstanding and you have the ball to pass into the net.

'Belief is the key and sometimes goals are going to be great goals but sometimes goals are coming from small mistakes like this. If I didn't run for that ball I would not be able to score that goal, so the team has to show that belief from the first minute to the last every game.

'I think we controlled the game most of the time and created the more chances, especially in the first half, but Man City have great players like Aguero who can score a goal at any time but in the end we won a game we deserved to win, and we are happy because it is our first win against one of the contenders for the Premier League title.'

Torres also had words on his own form at the moment and also for the Chelsea fans who Mourinho said played an important part in the striker's recovery from the early miss.

'I am feeling good and with high confidence, and feeling better in the system we are playing with more space,' he said.

'Hopefully we can keep improving as a team as it is just the beginning of the season and important games are coming.

'I felt the support for all the past and I am really happy for the fans, they can enjoy now with the team and with my goals and sometimes I feel they are even more happy with them than me, and hopefully they can see more of this this season.'

Saudi women drivers face uncertain future

Women fighting for the right to drive in Saudi Arabia are sorting through conflicting reports of women arrested or stopped for driving before taking their next steps to combat the policy.

Hala Al Dosari, a women's rights activist in the Saudi coastal city of Jeddah said she has seen pictures and video from more than 50 women participating in an Oct. 26 movement defying the country's de facto ban on driving.

Al Dosari, who spoke to NewsHour via Skype on Sunday, said she and others involved in the Oct. 26 movement were trying to determine how many women were stopped by police and what charges they would face. Some women were reportedly forced to sign pledges promising not to drive again or were asked to pay fines.

According to Al Dosari, the movement can continue if the consequences for driving involve fines or pledges, but if more serious charges are brought, the movement will have to re-evaluate its strategy.

Warning over medical demands of Syria refugees in Jordan

WITHIN four months it will become “impossible” to meet the medical demands of the ballooning number of Syrian refugees in Jordan – unless the international community steps in, a charity leader has warned.

Jordan is struggling to meet their needs in the wake of 1.3 million people fleeing the conflict in Syria, with as many as 70,000 refugees crossing into the country every month.

There has been a 624.4 per cent rise in the number of Syrian patients who have used the services offered by Caritas Jordan at seven facilities across the country in the first three quarters of this year, according to figures released by the charity – the partner of the British agency Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund (SCIAF).

Wael Suleiman, executive director of Caritas Jordan, said: “The problem with Jordan is that resources are so limited.

“In the public sector there are around only 40 hospitals for at least three million Jordanian people and today we are talking about 500,000 Iraqi refugees, 900,000 Egyptians and 1.3 million Syrians and with limited medical services.

“I think we are talking about a big problem for Jordan.

“The problem is not about today, we are talking about 60,000 to 70,000 Syrians every month coming to Jordan.

“I believe that even if today we can manage the situation, in the next three to four months it will be impossible to cover these medical services to the Syrian people. A solution should be there, I don’t know what, but some solution may be next month in Geneva,” he said in reference to international peace talks due to take place.

Caritas Jordan and SCIAF are members of the global confederation of 165 Catholic organisations Caritas Internationalis, making up one of the world’s largest humanitarian aid networks.

Val Morgan, an aid worker for SCIAF said: “There is a critical demand for high-quality medical care for refugees and other vulnerable people affected by the war in Syria.

“If there is not a concerted effort to provide for their health needs now, the long-term impact to these people and the healthcare service will be catastrophic. This predicament will go from desperate to disastrous unless urgent action is taken.”

One of the country’s busiest hospitals is the not-for-profit Italian Hospital in Amman, which works with Caritas Jordan.

Dr Khalid Shammas, medical director of the hospital, has described current pressures on medical services as “only the start” and has said that the medical system in Jordan will be dealing with the consequences of the Syrian conflict for the next 20 years.

The hospital’s outpatient unit will see 250 to 300 Syrian refugees per day which is “too much”, Dr Shammas said.

He also explained that patients who are Syrian refugees present challenging cases both from a physical and psychological perspective with wounds caused by shrapnel from bombs commonplace.

“A great number of these refugees have medical conditions, some of them related to the war, some of them related to chronic diseases. It is challenging because we are not used to dealing with that amount of people seeking medical attention.”

When Hani Najlat, 60, and his wife Nasema Alsadakh, 44, fled from their home in Damascus in February they chose Jordan as their destination, determined to find the best healthcare for their injured son.

Nasir, 18, had been shot in the face when he was leaving the mosque and a small bullet hit his eye. He is now blind in his left eye.

David Beckham involved in a car accident

David Beckham had a stroke of bad luck as he was leaving his home Saturday afternoon.
The former soccer player got into a car accident as he pulled out of the driveway of his Beverly Hills home, reportedly crashing into another SUV, according to X17 Online.
David's 14-year-old son, Brooklyn, was also in the car, but they both walked away unscathed.
The accident went down just minutes after David returned from the gym with his wife Victoria Beckham and the rest of their brood.

After dropping them off, David and Brooklyn headed out back out and got into the accident.
Photos from the collision show David's black Range Rover with its front fender hanging off, and the other car, a white Acura SUV, with a big dent on one side of its front panel.
Cops were called to the scene and a police report was filed.

The army clashed with M23 rebels on Friday for the first time in two months

The Congolese army said it made significant advances against eastern rebel forces in a second day of fierce fighting on Saturday and called on neighbouring Rwanda to help disarm the insurgents.
The army clashed with M23 rebels on Friday for the first time in two months after peace talks in Uganda broke down this week. Rwanda accused the army of firing a shell into its territory, sparking fears its military might intervene.
M23 said in a statement on Saturday that the army had launched a "generalized attack" on several fronts but that the fighting was turning in its favour.
Army spokesman Colonel Olivier Hamuli said, however, that M23 had been forced out of Kibumba, a town 20 km (13 miles) north of Goma, the largest city in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
"We have pushed M23 into the hills on the Rwandan border," he told a Reuters reporter near the front line. "We now call on Rwanda to help us disarm their fighters."
Hamuli said the army was also advancing from Rwindi, north of M23-controlled territory in Congo's North Kivu province, attacking the rebel group in a pincher movement.
U.N. investigators have accused Rwanda of supporting M23, charges that Kigali denies.
M23 formed in early 2012 when army soldiers mutinied, saying the government had broken a 2009 peace deal signed with a previous Rwanda-backed rebel movement.
On Friday, Rwanda said shells fired by the Congolese army landed in its territory. Rwanda's U.N. ambassador told a closed-door meeting of the Security Council it would not tolerate such shelling and could respond militarily, diplomats said.
The fighting is the most serious since late August, when the Congolese army and a new U.N. Intervention Brigade forced M23 from positions just north of Goma. The brigade, made up mostly of South African and Tanzanian soldiers, has a mandate to take on and destroy armed groups in eastern Congo.
On-and-off peace talks between the government and M23, taking place in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, since December, stalled on Monday, with the government saying it would not offer rebel leaders a blanket amnesty.
The U.N. peacekeeping mission in Congo, MONUSCO, said on Friday it was on high alert and monitoring the clashes. MONUSCO aircraft flew over the region, but South African and Tanzanian troops present near the front line did not join the combat.
A U.N. spokesman in New York said some 5,000 civilians had fled across the border into Rwanda.

Teacher loses bet with students, dyes hair hot pink
East Valley High School Teacher Robbie Robinson talks about dying his hair pink for breast cancer awareness month after losing a bet with students who beat their school fundraising goal.

When David Robinson tried to brainstorm a way to get his high school students more involved in the school’s annual fall festival, he very likely did not think it would end with his hair and beard dyed a very bright shade of pink.
That is, however, exactly what happened to the 62-year-old social studies teacher from Spokane Valley, Wash., and he couldn’t be happier about it.
“I’m just tickled,” Robinson t

7 Killed in Prison Riot in Mexico's Gulf Coast

State security officials say seven inmates have died in a prison riot in Mexico's Gulf coast state of Tamaulipas bordering Texas.

Tamaulipas security chief and state attorney general say the inmates were killed with makeshift knives in a fight in one cellblock in the coastal city of Altamira, about 300 miles south of Brownsville, Texas. Officials said in a statement Saturday that the riot occurred about 6 a.m. local time.

Two people were injured and nine were arrested, the statement said.

The victims ranged in age from 20 to 59, and were serving time for federal and state crimes.

Officials said nine inmates were responsible for starting the fight because of problems they had with the victims.

Thirty-one prisoners died in a riot in the same prison early last year.
